Stop the Gadget Madness

Christmas is only 15 days away and I’m sure many of you are probably well underway with your shopping.   For those of you shopping for the culinarily-inclined I’m here to make a plea…..

Stop the Gadget Madness!!!!

I am amazed at how many unnecessarily useless gadgets actually make their way from the stage of being an idea to the actual store shelves.  Where in the world do people find the financial backing for these things?  I’d like to know…I could use some financial backing myself!

Now I might be a bit biased, but I definitely think the money would be better spent than that which was used to produce the latest gizmo I’ve seen lurking in the big box stores:

I just don’t think this could be all that it’s cracked up to be….

REALLY???  SERIOUSLY???  You MUST be joking???

For those of you who have had joined me for my cooking classes in Savannah you no doubt know how strongly I feel about the HUGE array of gadgets (quality or not) that most people have cluttering kitchens….especially the intense hatred I have for garlic presses.  I have to admit though…the EZ-Cracker makes nearly any garlic press look like the idea of the century!

Before I ramble too much, let me make my main point:

If you think you need a gadget for cracking eggs because it’s just too difficult, you should probably stay out of the kitchen completely!!!

OR

Come and join me for a class….where you’ll also learn that cracking eggs directly on top of that bowl of dry ingredients is going to lead to bigger issues than simply the eggshells in the muffins.

BUT WAIT….THERE’S MORE!

AS A SPECIAL “THANK YOU” FOR CONTINUING TO READ THIS, LET ME SHARE WITH YOU THE NEW EASY WAY TO….

MAKE EGG SALAD??

Again…if you tend to make egg salad by chopping up eggs and putting them directly on the bread you need to join me for a class.  And where do they find the actors and actresses for these?

The original prototype for this grinder probably had a unique “bump” mechanism so you wouldn’t have to be bothered by those troublesome switches.  I can see the commercial now…”Bump it….buh, buh, buh, BUMP it… with the new Bump ‘n’ Grind”!

So what’s the craziest gadget you’ve seen this year?  I’d love to hear.  OR maybe you’ve been the recipient of one!  Please share…
