“Cooking Between the Lines”

In the twenty years that I’ve been teaching cooking, both in academia and personal enrichment classes, I find that people too often focus on learning “recipes” instead of the techniques and concepts that support the recipe.  My overarching goal in teaching is to help people to “Cook Between the Lines”,  to gain a better understanding of culinary technique and the ingredients that they use.  Whether it be scientific, cultural, historical, or sentimental, every recipe has a story to tell and something to teach! I have established this blog to stay in touch with the many guests who have become friends as a result of joining me in my cooking classes, as well as reach out and connect with many more.    I hope to share with you my knowledge, experience, and new discoveries and look forward to having you share with me!
